I agree with everything here except the part about a “well-documented” compiler API. Maybe I just can’t find it, but the only docs on the compiler API I can find is a tutorial callled “using the compiler API”. While it does contain some useful information, it’s by no means comprehensive documentation of all the methods available in the compiler API.
