This is mostly a reference for myself and is a list of books I’ve read and books I want to read. It also includes some notes on some of the books I’ve read. This will be updated as I complete more books.

  • [Done] Elon Musk — Ashley Vance
    - Willing to risk all of his money
    - Known for being a very quick learner
    - Asked complicated technical questions directly to engineers in order to learn from them
    - His passion for bettering the human race is probably genuine, rooted in a childhood full of science fiction novels.
  • [In Progress] Losing The Signal — The Spectacular Rise and Fall of Blackberry — Jacquie McNish and Sean Silcoff
    - RIM was Founded by Mike Lazaridis, a technical genius
    - Jim Balsillie partnered with Lazaridis in 1992 in exchange for funding.
    - Balsillie was a pure businessman who got his MBA from Harvard
    - Balsillie was kind of like the Steve Jobs while Mike Lazaridis was the Steve Wozniak
  • [In Progress] An astronaut’s guide to life on earth — Chris Hadfield
    - Tons of education and training required to become an astronaut
    - Crew time on the ISS was proportional to the amount of money the country contributed. ex. Canada contributed less than 2% of funds so got less than 2% of crew time.
    - The shuttle program ended in 2011 and now the Russian Soyaz is the only way to get to space. Some shuttle astronauts were too tall to fit in the smaller Soyaz.
    - Astronauts are trained for many different failure conditions and how to methodically deal with them.
  • [Unstarted] Steve Jobs — Walter Isaacson
  • [Unstarted] Long Walk to Freedom — Nelson Mandela
